Alcohol intake and Breast Feeding – say no to pump and dump

One of the questions I get most often is “How long do I have to wait after I drink alcohol to breast feed?”
Here is the answer…..
Breast milk is a living substance – like blood. Alcohol metabolizes out of breast milk just like it does out of blood. It is even possible to do breast milk alcohol levels. So….after drinking, wait until you are no longer drunk. The alcohol will be metabolized out of your milk and you can breast feed your baby. No need to pump and dump. Really!!!!

  1. I know that I pumped and dumped. But it’s good to know that it wasn’t necessary. Perhaps for the next baby I will be armed with this knowledge and remember that I don’t need to stress myself.

    Thanks for posting!

  2. I’m now not sure where you are getting your info, but great topic. I must spend a while finding out more or understanding more. Thanks for great info I was on the lookout for this info for my mission.
